FRANCK RIBERY RE-SIGNS WITH BAYERN MUNICH

It was finally officially announced that Muslim Frenchman Franck Ribery will stay on at Bayern Munich, signing a 5 year contract extension with the German club. Ribery had talked about possibly seeking a transfer to Real Madrid or Barcelona of the Spanish league. And, most recently, English giants such as Chelsea, Manchester City, and even Manchester United had daydreamed about acquiring the embattled midfielder. But, in the end, I think Franck chose the familiar pillow of his familiar bed, to help ease his mind as he picks up the pieces of his reputation and prepares for the World Cup.

BAYERN MUNICH FALL TO INTER MILAN IN CL FINAL

The Bayern Munich offense could not make up for the absence of Muslim Frenchman Franck Ribery, as they went down to Inter Milan 2-0 in the Champions League soccer final at the Bernabeu in Madrid, Spain on Saturday. Diego Milito scored both goals for Milan, as they became the first Italian club to win the league title, national cup, and European championships all in the same season. Turkey's Hamit Altintop started for Munich but was unable to get his side on the scoreboard. It's a shame, because there is a good chance that Bayern would have made this a closer match without Ribery's unfair suspension.

With the suspension of Frenchman Franck Ribery for today's Champions League final against Inter Milan, Bayern Munich are in need of someone to step up and fill the void. Turkey's Hamit Altintop may just be that person. The match will be starting soon, at 11:45 AM PST/ 2:45 PM EST at the Bernabeu in Madrid, Spain.

The long-rumoured link-up between Arsenal and Moroccan striker Marouane Chamakh finally was consumated on Friday. Chamakh came through the Bordeaux development system, and led them into the Champions League tournament. With him still being young (26 years old) and having had top level experience in France's Ligue 1, one has to wonder why Bordeaux let him get away on a free transfer.
